For her Carte Blanche invitation as part of the 2025 season at bee-flat, Swiss accordionist and composer Lea Gasser presents a new ensemble project with the title ‘Low Drift’. The quartet brings together four different artistic personalities, creating a sonically diverse, texturally rich music that blends improvised ensemble artistry, jazz language and contemporary sound approaches.

 

‘Low Drift’ positions itself as a programme beyond simple genre categories: with accordion, bass clarinet, cello and electric bass, the musicians develop soundscapes and interactions that are both structured and openly improvised. The ensemble aims for equal musical exchange – four voices that merge, rhythmise, articulate and explore spaces of resonance.

 

The quartet's music ranges from chamber music intimacy to textured improvisation and jazz-inspired interactions. Profound melodies meet resonant depths and subtle rhythmic structures, creating a dialogical sound structure that can be experienced both analytically and sensually.
