OXEON

Colourful & intimate Jazz

Sylvie Klijn - voc, fx, comp // Lea Gasser - acc, fx, comp

The OXEON duo invents colorful dialogues between voice and accordion: in unison or polyphony, intimate or extrovert, melancholy or lively. The musicians’ improvisations and compositions transport the audience into imaginary worlds.
OXEON play their own jazz compositions, and improvise and arrange on existing classical compositions. Their repertoire includes works by Monteverdi, Scarlatti, Ravel and languages such as English, Dutch and Italian. By opening up the rich and beautiful material of classical music, personal and contemporary arrangements come to life. Adding effects pedals to their repertoire, even more colors and textures blend into their musical world. Drawing on their classical and jazz training, the Swiss accordionist and Dutch singer, both living in Lausanne, find the ultimate fusion in this project.

OXEON has received coaching by Matthieu Michel, Denis Croisonnier, Delphine Gillot and Sara Lazarus. In June 2021, the duo reached the semi-finals of the Lavaux Classical Competition. The musicians have performed at Langnau Jazz Nights 2023, Festival JazzContreBand 2023, the Micro Jazzfestival Die letzte Tage 2021 in Bern, the Festival Riposte 2021 in Lausanne and live on RTS.
